Notice how slender and oddly detailed the fingers are - and this is a show with a thinner outline than The Simpsons. The issue with having lots of small objects - like fingers - next to each other is that you wind up with lots and lots of the black outline, which means you either need to make the fingers weirdly huge to keep their size while letting the outline exist, or make the fingers look weirdly tiny by counting the outline as part of them, which also leaves you with a mess of overlapping black lines whenever the hands are in the distance. In most cartoons, everything has a black outline with a minimum thickness. It's not about difficulty, it's about clarity.
